Lots of land in Belmont

We saw 2 lots of land in Belmont on the same street that are priced very differently (we want to build our own home).
MLS 81234549 (75K) & MLS 81241136 (325K). Can someone help me understand why?

I'm been a Belmont Realtor for 20 years and the last thing I would try and do is build a home here. The city will make your life miserable. Just log into the last council meeting video archive and listen to the family that after five years still cannot build on their lot despite appeasing the city and their onerous requests.

Yes. Redwood City is much easier to deal with. I have a good contractor who will only build in Redwood City because it's much more friendly to development.

As for other cities San Carlos seems easier to deal with and places like Woodside not so much. It really seems to depend on who is running the council and what their personal take is on growth.

Thanks for the information. Watching that video was very helpful! Is this common in all of the Bay Area? Are there any areas you would recommend for us to consider (maybe redwood city)? Thanks again.

It appears the cheaper lot is on a much greater slopped lot of land making it less desirable. I would be more than happy to contact the agent and work as your buyers agent throughout the transaction. Before purchasing it is important to do your homework and learn about the build-ability of the lot. As your buyers agent this type of homework would be my job.
