Looking to relocate in the next couple of years from FL to NC. Looking for any possible advice regarding

cities located near and around Raleigh. Would like to be in a metropolitan area with a suberb feel...if that makes sense! We're a young married couple with no kids, as of yet...looking to start a life and appreciate the season being as how FL has NONE! Also our price range will be from 150's-200's. Townhomes will do and prefer colonial style. Any tips or advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Raleigh is an awesome place to live! I should know - I am a native! The Triangle area is one of the few areas in the country that is still appreciating and our downtown area has really taken off in the last few years. There are many opportunities to live downtown or within walking distance of downtown. I can set up a search for you that will give you townhomes & condos in your price range that will update automatically when anything new hits the market. I grew up near downtown in what we call "inside the beltline" and know the best neighborhoods. Give me a call or email me Lindamorris@ysuhomes.com. My phone is 919-218-8973.

We have family living in Cary, best area near Raleigh. But, if there is anyway you can choose another area, it must be CHARLOTTE! It is everything you describe and so much more....most of the clients I have choose Charlotte hands down over any other city in NC, we have it all in a beautiful, clean city with tons of activities and an uptown without equal. Dozens of fab new condo buildings, museums, restaurants, nightlife, and the airport is a hub, so no stopovers in other cities to go anywhere in the world.

If it must be Raleigh, choose Cary; my daughter just moved to the Raleigh area and studied it for almost a year...she looked at Garner, other areas in and around and concluded the best place to live is Cary.

Good luck with your plans. If you choose Charlotte, I would love to be your Realtor, with 25 years selling Charlotte. If you have a Realtor, I wish you the best; NC is my home....a wonderful place to live.

I live in FL and my wife and I are looking for a 2nd home in the Raleigh area. If you want a nice suburban feel you should look at some areas in north Raleigh. Cary is a great community but pricing will be like north Raleigh - higher than in some other areas. It also depends on where you'll be working and how far you want to commute. My friends are in Garner. It's not "trendy" but has some great older neighborhoods and is definitely more in the country, but mature trees, some lakes, etc.

Best bet is to get a short list of preferences and then get on the "ground" and experience the areas you think you may like. There's alot of great things about Raleigh, but for me personally I don't want to move there and then deal with traffic and other "jazz" I can get right here in FL!

Good luck and feel free to email if you have any specific questions.

Raleigh is a great area; however if you are wanting to be closer to a metropolitan area I woudl suggest you take a look at Charlotte. NBA - NFL - NASCAR - OLYMPIC Whitewater Center - Light Rail Mass Transit - Dynamic Center City with over 100 Dining Options, Clubs, Museums and much more. All within walking distance - and yes you can even walk home a few block to your own Townhouse or Condo. Possibly even a City View from the 50 th floor. If interested let me know. There is also 1,000 miles of Lakefront in the Charlotte area. Charlotte is now the 19 th Largest City in the U.S..

The major disadvantage to Charlotte is the severe lack of roads and the continual congestion. The State Government does not seem to have a clue and there is no relief on the horizon.

I would say you'll probably see more wooded areas in Apex, Holly Springs, and Wake Forest than in Morrisville, but that's just from personal experience. Most of the Raleigh area is fairly heavily wooded. Of course the older townhome neighborhoods will most likely have a much better "green" feel than something brand new.

Hi
My wife and I moved here from Washigton D.C. about 7 years ago and we love it. I would reccomend Cary, Morrisville, Durham or Hillsborough. I would stay away from North Raleigh and Wake Forest unless you like congestion. I would be happy to send you some areas that maych your criteria. Just contact me on my website.

For a suburb feel in a metropolitan area, I would second the Morrisville, Apex, and Holly Springs areas. You may also want to consider Wake Forest. It depends on what your priority is with "metropolitan" - each of these smaller towns has easy access to shopping, eating, and work in Raleigh, if that is where you end up finding a new extension to your career! There are many great townhome communities. I'd recommend looking at Haddon Hall in Apex - you can walk easily to at least 3 new shopping centers, and have great access to Hwy 64 and 55. Good luck, and welcome to the Triangle!

Hi,

You should definitely consider Morrisville, Apex and Holly Springs. They're all relatively close to Raleigh and will fulfill your price range.

I recommend you visit the area and see what appeals to you. Each of the aforementioned cities has there own feel.
Good luck!

Raleigh is a great area, but I'm a little partial since I've lived here for 14 years. It's great to be in the middle of the state so that in a couple of hours in either direction, you can be at the coast or in the mountains. I actually have a friend that moved here from FL a couple of years ago and they may be moving back to FL for more schooling soon.

Raleigh has been voted the Best Place for Business and Careers, the #2 place for investments, one of the Best Places to Live, and one of the Best Places for Singles. Raleigh has a small downtown area that offers museums, theater, tons of restaurants and bars, boutiques, and entertainment venues...it's a sprawling city with different pockets that feel like mini-downtowns. I can send you a list of websites and places to go/things to do if you're interested.

Raleigh has several suburbs (Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Fuquay-Varina, etc.) that are within a 20-30 min. drive +/- from city center. Northwest Raleigh around Brier Creek/Hwy 70/Duraleigh Rd. in the 27613 and 27612 have lots of choices in townhomes in that price range (some new construction, some older). You can set up automatic home finder searches to email you listings at regular intervals at www. wendynormanonline.com...feel free to call or email me with questions. Email: wnorman@fmrealty.com Phone: 919-785-4240 (direct line at my office with Fonville Morisey/Long & Foster). Let me know if I can help! Have a great weekend!
