Dear Cindy,
My husband and I are selling a home on Terra Ceia Island on the Gulf Coast. It is located south of St. Petersburg and in fact, as you go south over the Skyway Bridge, at the top, look to your right and you will see a body of land...that is Terra Ceia Island. Twenty minutes from St. Pete and thirty from Tampa and Sarasota. Our home is a two story Key West style, two bedroom, two bathroom with a four-car garage under the main living area with ten foot ceilings. It is on a canal lot surrounded by 298' of water and is only three houses from the open bay. No bridges to contend with. Terra Ceia has a definite casual lifestyle, with neighbors riding golf carts, bicycles, jogging or roller blading. The name Terra Ceia translates to "Land Heavenly" and it truly is! Our asking price is $399,000 with homes around us selling for million plus. Please look at our site onhttp:// www.zillow.com, key in 34250 zip code and look for our address 1115 Bayshore Drive. If you have any questions, contact our email address. Good luck in your search for your Florida home. Kathy Riley, ekriley@mounet.com Fri May 16 2008, 09:38 Web Reference: http://www.zillow.com

Hi Cindy, if you are looking for a family oriented neighborhood there are several great choices. There is Gateway which is full of families with great schools right in the neighborhood. There are also newer communiites like Botanica Lakes which you would be able to buy a great brand new house for 300K or under. For older communities there are Whiskey Creek and Tanglewood which are also situated near good schools. Are you familiar with any of these? If you would like I can email you the homes that are availble in each of these neighborhoods and also a link to how the school system in Fort Myers works. I hope that helps!

Hi Cindy.
Most of the answers you've gotten so far are not really pertaining to Fort Myers, it seems. I'm not a realtor, but a City Planner who was recently laid off, so I'm pretty impartial. I would look at Whiskey Creek, Tanglewood & Edison Park. Tanglewood Elementary is close to the first 2 neighborhoods & Edison Park Elementary is within Edison Park neighborhood. None of these neighborhoods are new construction, but many of the homes in the first 2 neighborhoods were built by an excellent builder (Michigan Homes). Homes in Edison Park tend to have lots of character, but well-maintained. Sun Feb 17 2008, 11:16

I'm partial to Coral Springs and I will say that you can't beat Coral Springs for being a top rated family oriented town that is safe too! It was ranked the 10th safest city in the nation. Coral Springs is also noted for its high quality of education at its schools. It's a town that has it all; shops, dining, mall, movies, culture, parks and recreation, teen programs, fantastic athletic programs and more!

Hi Cindy,
I would have to agree with what everyone has said about Pineview School for the Gifted. I have two children that attend this school (4th and 9th grades) and we absolutely love it! Pine view was rated the #6 school in the nation by US News and in my opinion is the best school you will find in the state of Florida. Pine View starts in 2nd grade and goes through high school. It's a tough school to get into but well worth the effort. To attend you must have teacher recommendations, a certain grade point average and have an IQ of 130 or greater. If you give me a call or email I would be happy to go over all that is required to attend Pineview. I have done some research into schools in Florida because I have a buyer that is interested in the BEST school in Florida. Sarasota County has the number one school in Florida and number 6 in the nation. It is Pineview School which admits 2 through 12 grade. The students qualify by a testing program that I would be glad to provide information on. The zero lot line can be overcome by buying a lot is Sarasota County is a neighborhood that has standard size lot and proper stand off from lot lines. I know there are several homes in the Sarasota area that would meet your critique and I would be glad to show them to you. If interested please call me or email me. Good Luck...

Sarasota County's Pineview School is a progressive K-12 program that has turned a lot of heads on a national scale. It may be worth looking into the area and at least gathering some information. We would be happy to provide area real estate information if necessary.
