Looking for a second home in NE for summer vacations. Any good suggestions for around $200k?

Prefer somewhat close to the water and local villages. Is it completely unrealistic at this price range?

no it is not unrealistic. Try mid-coast Maine in the villages along the coast such as Cushing, Friendship, Waldoboro, Breman, Round Pond or towns of Rockland, Rockport etc.

we have property in Friendship and have about a 4minute walk to the harbor with wonderful views.

JC,
There are condo's in Charlestown which are in a complex called Castle Rock about 2 miles from the beaches. Low taxes. For more information you can go tohttp:// www.BobsTeam.info click on Condominiums, Charlestown, complex Castle Rock. If you need additional information let us know.

Yes, there are more condos available heading torwards the beaches. Narragansett has quite a few on the market, slightly over the $200 mark. Also Newport has a couple (also asking around 229, that are walking distance to beaches, mostly two bedrooms.

Follow Up Question:

Would I have more choices if it was Condo or Townhouse? (May be preferable because of no upkeep)
Looking for something small (around 1,000 sq feet)

The best beaches in Rhode Island are in Narragansett, Matunuck, Sand Hill Cove, Charlestown, etc. Very rarely is there one in the $200 price range. Warwick does have some small beaches, Conimicut and Oakland, that have old beach cottages mixed in with newer homes. If you are looking in the $200 price range, Warwick may very well be your best bet.
