Just find a 203k lender or a 203k consultant and if you need help we can help you. Either of them can guid you to the others in your "team" of associates. YOU don't get to choose the appraiser, the lender has to do this. There are four consultants listed in Rochester... interview them and find out what they will provide in the way of a work product. Ask each of them to refer a 203k lender they work with. If you need help send me a copy of what the send you and I'll suggest one over the others. How long does it take them to get the inspection completed and the report filled in. Do they provide bid numbers on their job specs or not. The answers to these questions will tell us what we need to know.

I am looking for a loan to repair the outside of my house with vinyl siding. I also want to redo my porch because it is old and in need of repair. I need new doors front and back and new windows for my side porch as windows are missing. the back steps are dangerous and there are inside repairs that I need. Since the 203k is a team effort if you are going to do it right, I would suggest you ask this question of one of your team members. You don't have one... maybe you do actually. Have you located a lender yet? If so ask them for the name of your consultant, if you don't then find a consultant and they will take you to a 203k lender and help you with the contractor selection as well. Michael Foust is a consultant in NY but I don't know if he covers your area. He will assist you in any case as he reviews or has reviewed a lot of 203k reports in NY State. Google "203k consultant search" and you will then search his name... no city but you can input the state name.
