Looking for a house in NJ with great schools, young family friendly and easy commute to midtown NYC. No budget if all preferences are met

We are not very familiar with any NJ town so need as much help an advice as possible. Few things that we are looking for that's a must :
- Family/kid friendly neighborhood with lots to do (parks, activities, etc.)
- Great school district!
- Friendly an homey street/neighborhood where neighbors are close but not so close. House must be on street with a sidewalk
- Large backyard (pool not priority but a plus)
- Easy commute into Midtown/grand central
- We will look at either move in ready/modern homes or a house in a neighborhood that meets our criteria that's a fixer upper or foreclosure for a much lower price and rebuild/renovate ourselves.

Can anyone help or advise on what neighbors to look in?

It would be wrong to recommend a town without knowing your price range.... You may consider New Providence/ Berkeley Heights, Chatham, Madison, Livingston, Summit, Millburn/Short Hills. All provide an easy commute to NYC, parks, activities and GREAT schools.

Feel free to call or email me for more info and a complimentary neighborhood tour ;) !

Depending on budget, Short Hills is the first area to come to mind. It hits everything on the checklist -- 45 minute commute into NY Penn, top-rated schools, nice-sized lots. (Again, depending on budget).
Some other towns that are slightly further from the city but also great are Summit, New Providence, Chatham, and Madison. You won't be sorry with any of these towns.

If you have any specific questions about these areas, you can feel free to contact me.

All the best!
