I like that its the closest Lake Community and there is a lake beach, my husband likes that there is a golf course. However I feel like it might be a little too isolated, where is the closest downtown area/restaurants? I'm from Manhattan, live in Jersey City now, have 2 small children, and want to live somewhere with low crime & a great school system, however Wayne is the furthest from the city I'm willing to go! I work in Clifton but my husband is typically in Hoboken/Jersey City and we go into the city for entertainment quite a bit. Would I be in the boonies if we moved to Packanack? Please help!
Geneviere,
I have a nice house 9 rooms, 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, deck, over sized jacuzzi, double shower in the master bedroom, central air, new Heil furnace (installed Feb. 09), live in a good school district located in Nutley NJ. We r 15 minutes from NY, have easy access 2 NY, right by route 3. We r right next door 2 Clifton and not far from Jersey City. We have tons of shopping, movies, restaurants and we have plenty of kids in our neighborhood. I am a Fireman retiring in January and down sizing. I know Lake Packanack and it is very pretty however it is away from what I think u r use 2. We just put our house on the market (less then 2 weeks ago. If interested go 2 realtors.com and we r listed at 499,000.

Wayne is a great town to live. It has been our only family home for 34 years. My husband and I moved into Wayne the day were were married and have raised our three children here. I live in Pines Lake section of Wayne. I can tell you that raising a family in a lake community like Pines Lake, Packanack Lake is the best. Your children will have the ablility to learn to swim, fish, learn to use any kind of boat--learn to appreciate nature and will have a community supporting them. In general you will find that these two lake communities have more 2nd and 3rd generation of families moving back to were they grow up, because they what their children to experience the same wonderful family life they grew up in. I have a home for sale in Pines Lake currently--if you do not find what you are looking for in Packanack Lake can I suggest you look at my home. It is listing with Weichert Realtors, the address is 41 Ledge Road. Good luck and I hope you find you dream home. By the way my daughter is a teacher in Jersey City and she commute from our home.
I am currently handling a home that has just come on the market in Packanack Lake. feel free to e-mail me for addl. info.

Genevieve:
I just moved here from New York City (born and raised in New York) and I absolutely love Packanack Lake!!! Wayne has great restaurants and shopping. My husband and I also love to go to New York City for entertainment and two weeks ago we decided to take the bus to NY City instead of driving into NY; the trip by bus took only 30 minutes. The school system is great also and it is a safe place to live. The lake community is beautiful...I told my husband I feel like I am ona perpetual vacation!!! Hope this helps.

Genevive,
You would certainly not be living in the boonies if you moved to Packanack. It is a charming lake community yet minutes to several major highways including rt,80,rt46,and rt23 which allows you to get to everything you could possibly need as far as shopping, entertainment, and to other highways such as the garden state parkway. NYC transit is nearby and the housing choices in the community are plentiful. Considering your needs, the Packanack lake community would be perfect. Genevieve,
Wayne is a very nice area to live. Great school system, and no you would not be in the boonies if you looked in that area. The gsmls has a few houses in that area listed for sale. Prices range from 370k to 998k. If I can help you in any way give me a call on my cell phone at 973-449-2771.
