Cityside Remodeling has done great work for friends in the Park Hill neighborhood. If you want to consider being your own General Contractor, contact Bob Hinz from Homewrights (303.756.8870). Homewrights helps many homeowners act as their own General Contractor and their consulting helps every step of the way. This process is not for everyone but if you ever considered being part of the building process this is worth considering. Good luck!

This is a really big project. Have you started the quote process yet? Do you know what your budget is? All of these factors play into who I would recommend for the job.

You guys are right, that is going to be quite the renovation. I hope that you're able to find a contractor that you can trust. Make sure that you set your budget in advance so that you don't spend more than you planned on before. Good luck with this project though. http://www.abalonconstruction.com/en/underpinning_and_teleposts.html

I agree with Mark, you're definitely going to want to find out that information asap. You should start planning your budget in order to give the contractor an idea of how much you can spend. He can give you an estimate, but the estimate can be tweaked depending on what kinds of materials you use. Good luck though. http://www.superiorbuildings.ca/

The first thing I would do is go to Angie's List (join in you're not a member -- super cheap) and search for general contractors. I love Angie's List because you'll get to see past reviews, examples of their work, etc. Interview and least 3-5 before making such a big decision.

Good luck! Julie Montgomery, Denver, CO. http://www.jmontgomery.com

Finding a contractor should be relatively easy. You should think about people you've know who've had remodels done lately. Ask them for references. Once you have a few names, you should talk to the contractors and decide which one you would want to work with, and have do this work for you.

I agree with Jackson, that shouldn't be that hard of a job. I'm sure that there are a lot of general contractors in the area that would be more than happy to do that job. Winter is usually a tough time for them to find business, so they should be pretty open. Good luck, and I hope that you're able to find what you are looking for. http://www.jackhandleyconstruction.com/

I think your concern will be more of getting permits. Finding a contractor to this work should actually be relatively easy. Most contractors will be able to do either of those jobs with relative ease. My suggestion to you would be to meet with a few different contractors and decide on one that you like. They would end up being the best person to hire.

I think sometimes the best idea is just hire a general contractor to get the work done. That sometimes is the fastest way to get things done. Maybe it's just me but that's how I feel. http://www.robkabbyhomes.com

Selecting a contractor is like selecting a restaurant, just because one is "the Best in Town" doesn't mean it will be you favorite. As a former General Contractor turned Realtor, I have a plethora of Contractors whom i recommend, but each recommendation is based upon the Project, the personalities involved and the style that the project is trying to achieve at a specific price-point. I can say the Spencer Chase of Chase Custom Homes; and Bryan Bozeman, of Stone Cloud; Troy and Jim Benson of Good Nature Builders; and Anthony Defauw, of Xtreme Building are amazing Builders, but I don't know if they are a fit for you.
That being said, I agree that any good GC will be able to do either of the projects you outlined, I would love to discuss your perimeters further to see if I can help with a contact. Let me know if I can help you work through this process, it can be tumultuous, and having people in your corner is never a bad thing when it comes to finding and vetting contractors.

I would suggest Angies List as a Great Place to start. There are some contractors that currently are working in the Bonnie Brae area that do this on a regular basis drive down a couple of streets and see some current work being done and they will usually have a sign out front as well.

Thanks!
