Looking at areas around Los Angeles to buy a house around $300K with a good school system. Is this?
possible.
Have been looking at Weschester, South Pasadena and Long Beach. Prefer to stay out of S.F. Valley. Any ideas?

This website has a pretty good feature that shows local schools.
The API has all of the schools listed http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/ap/ 850+ for elementary 750+ for middle and high school are reasonable districts 920+ for elementary 800+ for middle and high school are very good districts This list removes the guess work! Tue Jun 10 2008, 19:45

We have excellent public schools in Culver City, but you would not be able to purchase a home in that price range.
We have some lovely Condo's that might work for you, but they would be small . Mon Jun 9 2008, 09:21 Web Reference: http://www.doreneslavitz.com

Yes. Price are coming down, some area are 50% off from two years ago. You can search the MLS for free at my website http://reolicensedspecialist.com or email me and I can send you daily or weekly updates in the area you want to buy. All I need is your criteria: Price, area, features, etc.—and you will get daily or week updates directly from the MLS. I specialize in Foreclosures and I am a real estate broker for over 20 years.

Hi,
Have you checked out Burbank? I know a few years ago you could get a very modest starter house there in the mid to high fours. I just looked really quickly and saw some for mid 3's. I had a girlfriend move there a few years ago for the schools. She said school scores varied from neighborhood to neighborhood. Some were much better than others. South Pasadena is really nice too. However, I got the feeling from your e-mail you were interested in houses not condos. If you are interested in searching the Los Angeles area, Pasadena/Glendale area or san Diego area my website has free mls. No registration is required. Just jump on and start searching. If you are interested in Burbank listings drop me a line and I will do a search and send you listings. Thanks, Sarah Dupree Wed May 21 2008, 09:31 Web Reference: http://www.sarahdupreerealty.com

Hi Tom,
We just recently showed a few condo in that price range in South Pasadena. South Pasadena is noted for a great public school system. You can find out more about schools through our website at http://mylarealestategroup.com/communities.php and click on the bottom of the page to compare the schools you are interested in. Hope this helps. Good Luck Lou & Alex LA Real Estate Group http://wwww.myLARealEstateGroup.com info@myLARealEstateGroup.com Tue May 20 2008, 23:28 Web Reference: http://www.MyLARealEstateGroup.com

I totally agree with the last answer. Try to look in the Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Glassell Park area. The schools won't be the best but if you want Ivanhoe District, you'll have to spend 800k. Those areas are poised for appreciation during the next real estate cycle. Come over the the eastside. You'll wonder what took you so long.

Hi Tom,
If you're okay with a condo, check out Monterey Hills - it's right next to South Pasadena. Also, have you looked in Highland Park and Eagle Rock? Possible opportunities there for a single family residence. Irina Tue May 20 2008, 10:06 Web Reference: http://www.pasadenacarealestatehomes.com/real-estate/mo...

In my area, Bellflower has a really good school system, both public and private schools in the area have very good ratings. Right now you can find a 3-bed, 2-bath home around 1200sq ft or possibly bigger for $300k. Feel free to call me anytime for more details.
