Large military family relocating to Jacksonville, need help!

Brenna
Home Buyer
USA, Mobile, AL

Hello ~ We will be moving to Jacksonville from Seoul, Korea at the end of February. We are looking for a rental for now that is within our BAH. We currently get around $1400.00 per month and can come out of our pockets another $50-75. Only problem is we have 5 kids (4 boys, 1 girl). So we are looking for a 5 bedroom or a 4 with a bonus room/loft. Nothing less than 2300 sq. ft. My husband will be working at NRD downtown. The area we have been leaning towards is Orange Park. Do you think this is doable or am I dreaming? Any help on this or any other areas that are affordable with good schools would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Recruiting duty, that tough and long hours too. Which means you'll be left alone quite a bit. You need convenience of having schools, shopping, and a base nearby. The area has great schools and low crime. I recommend 32003 zip which is Fleming Island. You should be able to find a large home with 3 baths easily for rent or sale. Your timing is good too because this time next year all of BAS Brunswick ME will be transferring down here and this area will fill up quickly.

How are you doing, I am currently military as well. I was active duty and am now NAtional Guard. My BAH is about 1300 when I am on active orders (which will be again in about two months). I have one small child and the second coming well after I deply again.

I was living in Jacksonville very recently and I know that renting for that amount of square footage is possible but very hard to find. Your concerns probably that of my wife and I. The schools and the nieghborhoods. Dont make the mistake we did and not look at the schools and the nieghborhoods. Another mistake we made is believing everyone who claims they are a military specialist. ensure the poeple you are working with actually know what you are dealing with, not relating about what thier extended family dealt with 15 years ago.

My wife is now a broker and we operate on behalf of military personnel. We are not brokered in FLorida but we represent military members who own property in jacksonville. These poeple will happily speak with you for free as will I.

Hello. We have a house in Middleburg that we just listed with an agent in august. We, too, were relocated back to our home town in Illinois. I have family in Orange Park. It is a nice area. Very busy. Any of the schools in Clay county are great. My two attended Tynes elementary in Middleburg. I can't say enough great thing about the school! Middleburg is a nice area. It is close to all highways leading to Jax if that is where you will be stationed. Just thought I would give you some advice. Orange Park is a little more pricier than the smaller towns in the area. It is very congested on CR220 and 17. So keep that in mind when looking for a home. Good luck in your search!

This is a possiblity for your rental at that price. Are you looking to have the utilities included in the amount you get for BAH or will that come from his base pay? I am a Realtor and my husband is in the military as well. Where exactly will he be at downtown. If you would like I can search rentals for you in the area and email them to you. My email is cj.haack@coldwellbanker.com, 904-612-9246 you may call me anytime between 7am and 10pm with any additional questions.
