Good evening Antoinette,

You can verify property taxes on the NYC Dept of Finance website. To do so, you will first need the Block and Lot number of the property.

First step:
Look up Block and Lot using the property street address using this link to "Find Addresses and Parcels:" http://a836-acris.nyc.gov/Scripts/Coverpage.dll/index

Second step: using the Block and Lot numbers, look up the tax bill using this link: http://nycprop.nyc.gov/nycproperty/nynav/jsp/selectbbl.jsp

Third step: view activity to determine if taxes are paid current. You can also view recent billing to verify actual property tax amount.

You can try contacting the tax assessor's office http://www.nyc.gov/portal/site/nycgov/menuitem.406c3a6dfca3a…

Probably a visit to the Country Tax Assessor's Office; that's free.
