Is the price listed on the page what is owed on the house?

The page here says $70,000 but when I called an agent he said the house would be more around $80,000. Can he jack up the price on the house?

Ashley - usually the price you see is the asking price. Typically the asking price gets reduced and may not happen online the same day so that could account for a difference. Occasionally sellers raise their price if they have updated or have found out that it will take more to make their mortgage payoff. What I don't understand is the agent saying it is going to be around $80,000 - why doesn't he know the asking price? Try contacting a buyers agent in that area who could do some digging for you if this is a house you are really interest in! Good Luck!

Ashley, not really. Perhaps it was put in Trulia wrong but a syndication site. A realtor in Lansing should pull up the official listing ticket for you from the MLS.

No knowing the specifics about the listing you are referring to, all I can say is that usually the price posted is the asking price. Perhaps they discoved they owe more than what the were asking and raised the price. The problem then could be appraising. The seller has a right to raise the price, however that seems to be the opposie of what's happening these days. Keep looking! Best to you, on your house hunting! Mike
