Is the neighbor hood around mountainview park good or bad?

Asked by Pistolero, 85021 Tue Aug 2, 2011

I am looking at a home on the side of the mountain close to Mountain view park. My friend from AZ said that it is close to Sunnyslope and that it would be a bad buy and dangerous to live at. I am a Disabled veteran and can fend for myself however i am tired of War and want a place that is peacefull that i dont have to set up like Fort Knox. Any ideas or stats i can look at for this area? is onN. 3rd Drive and W. camino Vista. Thank you.

I have to take exception to one of your first responses indicating a thumbs down on Sunnyslope area. First of all, your other respondents are absolutely correct that realtors are not allowed to indicate a good or bad area. Instead, respoonding agents have given you several wonderful websites and resources to contact to make that determination for yourself. Personally, I both live in and work in/around Sunnyslope and love it for over 25 years! We have a strong Block Watch program, great neighbors, and scenic views. Hi Pistolero,

Trulia has also come out with an interactive crime map to let you see what is happening in different neighborhoods.

Try this link:

Or this one:

Good luck and thank you.

Words like "good" or "bad" are defined by the person using them. My idea of "good" may not be your idea. To that end, the Arizona Association of Realtors developed a buyer advisory that is chocked full of good information for home buyers. If you will email me at fshocklie@morechoices.com, I would be happy to forward the advisory to you. The advisory tells you where to crime stats as well as other information resources.

I would contact the Phoenix Police departments neighborhood services division for the area. They generally have a lot of real stats on neighborhoods.

Dear Pistolero,

There are plenty of neighborhoods for you to consider; sounds like you may qualify for a VA loan as well. .
Since I'm not legally allowed to say whether a neighborhood is "good" or "bad", check out this website: azcentral.com and look for crime stats. It is by map, so you can see where crime tends to concentrate. Have your agent show you several neighborhoods and check each of them on this website.

The police are allowed to tell you if a neighborhood is safe or not, so ask them before you write any offer.

And thank you for all you have given our country.

Sunnyslope = Bad news. No No No. Don't buy there unless you have a gun to protect yourself.
