So, you're actually a home BUYER! Seller, too? It can be frustrating, when you're trying to concentrate on one particular home before it goes on market--Some sellers don't always logically-consider all their options.
We move DIRECTLY toward SOLUTION, for our Buyers and Sellers: The GOOD news is, that we're still in a BUYERS' MARKET, and thare is no shortage of "good-deals" to buy. If YOU can DEFINE what you'd like in a home, top PRICE-RANGE you would pay, WHEN you'd like to buy, and WHERE, you'll probably be SHOCKED at some of the outstanding VALUES we can provide--probably BEYOND the one you "lost," -- when you consider what you'll GAIN in LOCATION and amenities, RESALE value, style, and energy-saving FEATURES. When you're ready to see what we've got that's better, still, and want to get top-of-the-market-dollar for the home you may need to sell, as well, give a CALL-- 281-376-8100
Thanks for the kind words.
I had boarded it up for hurricane Ike, and I met with the executors a couple of weeks after that when they came out to check on the house. I hauled away the old fencing around the patio blown down by Ike, removed the window boards, labelled them, and put them in the attic for them. I answered questions about the house, and told them all I knew about it's condition: what needed attention and what didn't, that the A/C and gas heat was new, the water heater had been replaced fairly recently, and I had installed a water heater timer. I expressed interest in the home at that time, but they acted like I was just trying to beat them out of it.
The house started out at $105K, then $99K, $95K, and finally sold 8 months later for $86K -with a lot of valuables included! Even the washer and dryer, which weren't very old. They had recarpeted the first floor, painted it, paid a years worth of taxes, utility bills, and R.E. brokers' fees before they got their money out of it... they should've took me up on my offer last year. Oh well...
I hear you. Unfortunately, the listing odesn't say anything about the furnishings, but they could have done a non-realty items addendum which would include the furnishings. We aren't privvy to that info though unless we are directly involved in the sale. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Sounds like you are a good neighbor to have!

I live next door and was very close friends with the dear old man that lived there for 17 years and passed away in June 2008. I had aspirations of buying it, but the asking price was way too high for the home.
It was FS for the longest time, then one day the sign went down, and people moved in a week later. The new residents are a retired couple and they speak very little English, so I can't converse with them. I assumed that they must be tenants, but that is apparently not the case.
Funny thing is, the house is still full of his furniture- even his Hi-definition TV and high-end Stereo is still set up in the living room. They must've bought it with all the furnishings included -that is why thought it might be a rental home instead of being sold.
After the other Realtor replied to my question below, I ask around, and one of my neighbors told me they had heard it sold for $86K. When I pointed out the furniture through the open windows, they were just as baffled as I am...
I did a lot of work to that house over the years, and new it like the back of my hand. The house had lots of upgrades, and I had installed a large roof-mounted TV antenna and cabling, separate high-grade TV cable (he had Comcast cable w/DVR, and off-the-air HDTV tuners as well as FM stereo radio tuners fed by the antenna), computer networking cable, and telephone jacks throughout the house, and thre dedicated 120volt Electrical power for his Audio/Video system. The antenna still works today- you should see the HDTV picture quality -and no subscription required!
