Hi there - you've gotten good advice so far - but the best thing for you to do is to talk with a mortgage pro - I've got one I can recommend if you like - let me know if you'd like the contact info and I'll pass it right along.
Best,

Yes, you can! The magic number seems to be right around 620. If you have judgements or collections against you upwards of $1500 you'll probably have to clear them up first.
Good Luck!
Hi Teapples,
With an FHA insured loan you can get by with a 620+ with some lenders. You might be able to offer some compensating factors such as cash reserves after closing, down payment higher than the required 3.5% for FHA. Talk to your mortgage lender or interview a few for your own sake. Here’s some one that specializes in that type of loan Janette @ 973-777-8888. Good luck with your mortgage hunt.

Dear Treapples,
Yes it is possible to get a mortgage with so-so credit as you say. It all depends on quite a few things these days. How much down on the house, the price of the house, taxes, and of course the history of you , your job, salary and credit. There are some programs out there that can work for you. It may just not get you as much of a house to start with now.
Please give me a call or contact me by e-mail, Would love to answer any of the questions that you might have. If I don't have the answers I will get you in contact with the right person or get them for you.

WIth a score over 620, you should be fine..as long as income, debt ratio, down payment are in line as well. IF you want me to take a look at your options, just give me a call at 800-793-9633 ext 185. I'll do my best to get you qualified.
