You don't get to mix and match on income and credit scores when applying for a home loan. The lender can advise you best whether to include both of you, or get the loan using only one of you as the applicants. I purchased our last home while my Husband was in Iraq. He was making more money, working as a government contractor at the time, but I had 7 years of self-employment and documented income, with better credit scores. The lender will give you the options open to you. Don't be fearful of having a good loan officer run your credit and give you information. There is no judgment out there. Just assistance. And, there are things you can do in 30-60-90 days to improve your Husband's credit score and debt capacity that will start to show results in 30 days.
Have a blessed day!
