Is it possible or legal for the city to force a developer to take a plotted 2 acre lot and split it into two smaller 1 acre lots?

Asked by Alex Jean-Gilles, Fort Worth, TX Sun Apr 28, 2013

I have a contract with a developer for a 2 acre lot, they called and tried to explain to me that the city if demanding that the break the lot into 2 smaller lot and whether or not I want out of the contract or a different lot. I think they are trying to cheat me out of the lot i'm already on contract to close.

Go to the city planning and zoning department. Force is a tough word to use....they can't really force you to do anything, but they don't have to agree to building permit or site plan or plat.

thank you for the feedback, I did contact the City and they did not make or suggest any changes to the plotted lot.
