Hire your own attorney who represents you! On occasion and if allowed your attorney can also represent the bank as well. Make sure that if that is the case he has done so before.

Your attorney protects and promotes your best interest, the bank attorney represents the bank.

Use your own attorney no matter where you are buying or what you are buying. A bank attorney is not representing you, they are representing the bank.

Dear jakebohdan:

You will be better off having your own attorney. If the attorney represents you and the bank, there could be a conflict of interest.

Hi Jake
you just spent your entire life's savings on an apartment, don't you want to be protected. The BANK
ATTORNEY works for the BANK not you. Don't choke now. good luck

You should absolutely retain your own Attorney to represent you. The Bank Attorney represents the BANK not you. Be sure you get a referral to an Attorney who specializes in real estate transactions in Brooklyn. And remember, you get what you pay for. Pay "the going rate" so you get the best representation.
