trouble, but the neighborhood seems to be improving, especially in the historic districts. Any thoughts?

Like Jay, I live in East Point and have been for 9 years out of my 15 years in Atlanta. Three years ago I bought and moved into my 2nd house...just 10 doors around the corner from my first. The East Point City Gvt seems to have had problems since before I came here but all the newer residents raise their voices to make the gvt accountable. What makes this city my home is the strong sense of community. The other residents are warm and friendly. Overall we look out for each other. Plus the police and fire depts are quite responsive. I feel much safer than when I lived in City of Atl. I live in Conley Hills :) Additionally the affordability of the homes for the condition can't be beat; we are on MARTA; and we can get into the city various routes whether on hwy or surface streets.
Overall I recommend calling East Point HOME. Let me know if you have questions, want help, etc. joan@intownfocus.com

Michelle,
What is your motivation?
Are you moving to the East Point area because of a job or are you thinking of investing in real estate there? It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
I have a client thinking about selling a home in the East Point/College Park area if you are interested.
I would see no problem in purchasing in East Point. There are many cities having financial problems, including Atlanta. Also, you have a major development that will be taking place just outside of East Point where Ft McPherson is currently located.
Best of Luck
