Hello Ross
Have you visited the area as of yet? I see you ask ?? back in July 16, 2008 it is Sept 9, 2009. I just listed a great home on this web site at 103 Winchester Place Smithfield VA in Waterford Oaks. Everything all these agents said are okay. But it not that country like I'm from on top a mountain in WV you have to drive 15 minutes to get gas and 30 minutes to a doctor or shopping. There is a farm fresh full service less than 3 miles on main road coming into smithfield from Portsmouth, Southside Suffolk, Chesapeake area. I sold quite a few homes in Smithfield over the last 20 years and it has grown a lot in last 10 years. Check out my listing and tell me what your plans are if you already here or relcated to another city in the area.
Sincerely Yours,

Smithfield is a great place to live but it is not for everyone. We are still considered rural. With that being said, we are about thirty minutes to Suffolk, the Peninsula, and Chesapeake. We enjoy the pace that is condusive to country living but we are only a short ride to great restaurants, shopping, beaches, museums, and all things that make Hampton Roads so desireable. Our downtown is quaint and perfect for strollling on a Sunday afternoon as well as Friday nite concerts. Homes can be a bit pricey but lots are somewhat larger than other areas around Hampton Roads.
Hi Rosa,
Smithfield is wonderful. There has been a lot of new construction over the past 5-7 years out there. There are well established neighborhoods like Gatling Pointe, Moonefield, Waterford Oaks and such and so many newer neighborhoods. It may be easier to find a home with a little bigger lot if you're not looking for something too new. Lots of condos, townhomes and mixed developments that combine both attached and single family homes. There are a few neighborhoods that have huge clubhouses and pools - tons of recreational facilities and they are very popular. You'll find a lot of homes right over the James River Bridge so if you are working on the Peninsula or Southside, it's not a bad commute. The Smithfield/ Isle of Wight area is pretty big and you'll find that the actual historical town of Smithfield is very quant. Great to visit, good ice-cream, great small town bakeries, cafe's and shops. Even if you do work across the bridge, the travel time is usually less then having to battle some of the other roads during peak traffic. If you're interested in a tour of the area, and you are not already working with an agent, feel free to give me call or email me. Have a great weekend!!
Good morning Rosa! I have friends who have been living in Smithfield for over 5 years and said they are happy living over there. Also, I have a fellow realtor in the office who lives in Windsor now for over 8 years and said she likes it over there, too. If you are looking for a property to buy, please let me know what price range and house specs are you looking for so I can send you these information.
Thanks for the info. Now, while checking out the map, I found Windsor. Is that area betther than Smithfield? What is there in terms of shopping and activities?
YES! My name is Beth Dippo and I have lived here in Smithfield, VA for the past 9 years and we love it! I am also a licensed realtor with Greg Garrett Realty.com. I can tell you whatever you want to know!
If there are no local agents that respond to your question tonight, email me your contact information in the AM and I will be happy to help you find an agent in that area. I am in Northern Virginia (near Dulles), sorry I can't help you personally.
Didn’t find what you were looking for? Ask a question!
