nrabinowitz, Renter in Brooklyn, NY

Is Prospect Park South a reasonably safe place to love? I'm looking at an apartment on E. 17 and have received mixed reviews.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Realtors are in violation of Federal Housing Laws if they answer this question. I would contact the local police department, talk to neighbors, visit the area on different days and times of the week. There are many sites on the internet that you can research.

I would also like to know from fellow renters/cooperators. Considering looking at something near Beverly and East 18th street. 221 East 18th St. Brooklyn. Also wonder if that bldg is pretty quiet, in terms of hearing people walking over your apartment and other noise, like in back of the bldg.
