Is GC racially tolerant? If so, why is it predominantly white when other affluent areas on LI are diverse? Manhasset, Syosset, etc.

Federal/State/Local Fair Housing Laws prevent real estate professionals from answering such a question and we are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods; therefore research on your own to assure your comfort level can be reached.

Why would you ask if Garden City was racially tolerant just because it is mostly white? If you go to Flushing in Queens, it is almost completely asian. Does that mean they are not tolerant of whites? Hempstead is 100% black and hispanic, does this mean they do not tolerate whites? If you have enough cash, you can move into any neighborhood you want including Garden City.

Right now Garden City is nice and peaceful, a small urban garden that won't stay this way very long. If you look at the surrounding communities, such as Elmont, Hempstead, and so forth, you'll see what the future holds for Garden City. Ultimately, Garden City will just be Queens and Queens will be unlivable. Is race a factor? Real estate agents hate to admit it, but it's true nevertheless. Mostly, however, it's a question of cultural values, or their absence.

Hi Paula,
With today's ethics training mandatory for all realtors,
there should never be a reason for any race not to
be able to buy a house in
any area they desire if they qualify for this purchase.
This is a Federal offense and is
discriminatory. There should be nothing stopping a person from
buying a house in an area they desire.

I hope this answers your question.

Realtors By law are not permitted to comment on such topics, along with neighborhood make-ups and school standings.
