Claywakening;

Folly Field is a good area to buy and to make sure that is is the best area for you, please compare it to other areas before you buy. The homes in Folly Field compare most closely to others in North and South Forest Beach. The public sewer lines in Folly Field were installed a couple of years ago replacing the septic systems that have always limited the size of homes in Folly Field. We will probably see older homes getting torn down and replaced by newer larger homes because of these new sewer lines and a transformation of this community of homes over time. This upgrade in infrastructure should bring an upgrade in property values over time.

Among villas in Folly Field, the Beach and Tennis Resort is large, popular and economical. It has has always been a good place to buy a condo at the beach without paying a big price but it should be compared to the Sea Side Villas and the Breakers in Forest Beach, the Hilton Head Resort on Rt 278 and Fiddler's Cove, also in Folly Field. The Sea Cloisters and the Island Club should be compared to other upscale villas in Forest Beach and Palmetto Dunes. Stone's Throw villas just two blocks off the beach also have a special niche and appeal for some buyers that cannot be found elsewhere.

Folly Field is a good place to buy but before you do, please compare to other good choices to make sure you have the right community for your needs. For help with this when you are ready, please call me at cell 843-684-2933 or email rich@gogated.com.

Dear Claywakening,

Folly Field is a convenient location - short walk to the beach. A few years back I stayed local to Folly Field and thought it was central to explore Hilton Head.
As to whether it is a good area to invest in, much will depend on how long you think you want to hold onto the property.
If you haven't already, you should connect with a realtor on Hilton Head to properly research the market to help you arrive at the most informed decision.

Have you considered investing in the Charleston SC area?
We have a high inventory to choose from - beautiful beaches, golf, historic sites..... great quality of life!

Check out information and search the MLS directly from my site: http://www.screlocate.com

If I can help you in any way, please let me know.

Regards,

folly field was one of the earliest non plantation areas to be developed. it is near nice public beaches on the eastern side of the island on the atlantic ocean towards the northen end of the island. it is located away from the southern end when most of the tourists go. it probably is poised to be redeveloped because the land is more valuable than the existing structures. however, because the properties are mostly individually owned it would be difficult to mount a master plan to do a mass redevelopment project anytime soon. long term investment probably is ok. rhm 6/14/09
