International Move from Europe
Hi,
We're a family of 4, we've lived in California for nearly 7 years and then relocated to the Netherlands. I am Dutch myself but my wife and kids are dual nationality. We are considering moving to NC around the triangle area as I'm an IT entrepeneur. I would love to get in contact with realtors, IT specialists, IT recruiters, people that know the ins and outs of relocating internationally and also other people that know the area well. We are not looking to relocate immediately, we are currently in the early planning stage and expect to be moving in between one to two years from now. Thanks in advance!

I can help you in all areas. I work closely with a major IT recruiter: Jason Smith of Accentuate Staffing (919-844-2900 jason@accentuatestaffing.com). I would give him a call first as he can help you secure a very high paying job. Where I shine is helping you locate and finance a property. I can introduce you to my personal network of real estate professionals and help you secure a mortgage easily and hassle free. Please shoot me an email at dbrown@cavaliermort.com if you are intersted in learning more or give Jason a call and let him know that I referred you.

Hi Fred!
I would love to help you transition and prepare to relocate. I have been in the Triangle area for over 39 years. My background is IT. I hold a BS and MS in computer science and still do some IT consulting. I am with a small boutique real estate company, Keaton Barrow Realty. I can recommend a couple of banker/mortgage brokers that we have worked with previously on international relocations. This is a great area for family, real estate, IT and entrepeneurs. Feel free to check out my website: www.dreamsintorealty.biz. Use the advanced search to get a feel for the available inventory. If you have any questions, my cell phone number is 919.244.0754. Fred, as someone from out of town, in my opinion it will help you quite a bit to find a real estate agent to help you with the logistics of your move.
I think there are a lot of great Realtors who will post in response to this question. Additionally, try finding a Realtor via http://www.seekingagents.com/ , to compare proposals from lots of agents in the area in which you're interested. Fred,
Yes we have a mortgage division and I would be happy to put you in touch with them. There are a few hoops to jump thru being an international transaction but, it can be done. My question first of all are you immigrating or just moving back to the US. I have international clients now but they are immigrating and that is a long process. If you like just drop me a line and I can answer any questions you might have. Larry Story Coldwell Banker Triad larry.story@coldwellbanker.com Thu May 1 2008, 11:39

Larry,
Does Coldwell Banking also handle mortgages for homes? At least here in the Netherlands it is sometimes tricky to get a mortgage if you're an entrepeneur. Is that the same in the US or does simply showing a few years of revenue, even though they're European revenue, qualify you for a loan? I would also love to hear how you feel the mortgage interest rate will develop over the next, say, two years or so. With the Feds cutting interest rates one would assume that this would eventually home buyers but the credit crisis makes that debatable. When I would make a downpayment of at least 50%, would it still be difficult to get financing? Fred Thu May 1 2008, 08:37

Fred,
Great choice. The triangle area is great for IT! My brother in law use to work for IBM and now works for another IT company. He lives in the triangle area and although he travels internationally alot Raleigh is where he lives. Scott is usually out of the country at least one week out of the month but, comes home and works from home the rest of the time. So there are plenty of good agents on Trulia from the triangle area. Good luck and happy house hunting Larry Story Coldwell Banker Triad Thu May 1 2008, 07:04

Hi Fred,
My husbad is in the IT world and that is why we moved to Raleigh. We had an apartment in Amsterdam last year for 8 months while he was restructuring a system for all of Honeywell's European offices. I myself had an apartment in Rome for four years. I love the European lifestyle and understand the transition back into the American way of living,. I would like to hear your background, what kind of position you are looking for, and what draws you to possibly moving to the triangle area. You can contact me through my web site below.
