Interested in two possible homes in Warren County. . .

My husband and I have narrowed down our home search to 2 possibilites in Warren County. Both are about the same in price / taxes. One is in Lopatcong and the other in Washington Boro. Can anyone tell me some pro's / Con's between the two areas? We've been there many time but are originally from Northern Jersey. Any advice would be greatly appreciated we are a family of 5 so are looking for a good town to raise our children.

Hi Momof3,

Assuming you did your research on schools and it's a wash statistically, I would say whatever property has the right feel wins. Lopatcong is slightly more convenient to shopping areas in Phillipsburg and is closer to 78. Route 57 can be very slow at times between Washington and Phillipsburg, but there are backroads to 78 if you want to use them. Washington borough has a cute downtown, Lopatcong does not. Housing prices are similar in both towns. You know, in writing this I'm pretty much undecided too. But if you press me to the wall, I'll take Washington because I like the downtown area.

What one person loves can be the same as what another person dislikes. My suggestion, as you have children, is to look at the stats for both school districts and see which town has the best performing schools. The link is http://education.state.nj.us/rc/rc07/index.html .
