I recently viewed a townhome that has had extensive water/mold/mildew damage caused by (I believe) by a broken pipe (The property is new construction, has never been lived in and is in foreclosure. The agent says she "does not know" what happened). I called my insurance company to find out what documentation/proof they would require that the problem had been rectified and was told that they would NOT insure ANY property that had previous mold damage under ANY circumstances. They were quite adamant about it. Is this home truly "un-insurable"? Even after the home is gutted and re-finished will I have problems getting insurance? Thank you ! Kelly
Dear Kelly:
My recommendation would be to call a few different insurance companies and get their specific criteria regarding mold. 2nd and 3rd or more opinions are often required. Should you need a recommendation, please email me at lmbrealtycorp@aol.com.
Good luck Kelly!
