Indian Mound neighborhood and pollution

I have been looking at early 20th century homes in the KC area (1900-1930). The Indian mound neighborhood seems to have quite a few affordable ones. However looking at one listing I noted that Indian mound had a much worse air quality rating than the city and nation (13 IM, 46 KC, 83 national). The neighborhood otherwise looks like what I am looking for. Reasonably priced, beautiful old homes (lots of hard wood and art glass). Is there another similar neighborhood I should look at? How bad is the pollution?

KColdhouse,

Where is the Indian Mound area. Sorry not familiar. There are some very nice older homes in Kansas City and Independence. What price range are you looking for?
