In CA, is it required for the "For Sale" sign to stand in the middle of our front yard with the "pending" sign on it for the entire 60 day escrow?

I'd like to move it to the side yard or a less visible location (still located in the front of house).

My agent, who sold our home, did a great job (sold our home after only one viewing and we are very happy with our offer). She gets a lot of business and advertising in our community therefore I do not feel guilty about asking her to take down her sign.

I greatly appreciate all the responses and your expertise.

You can ask the agent to remove it. It is OK. It is already sold! You are the client, it is you that should be happy.

You can do whatever you want with it but I don't think the agent will want to move it. It is great advertising for them. Just send me an email if you have any further questions.

As stated below, it's between you and your agent. She works for you, not the other way around. Although every agent wants their sign out there as long as possible, you can definitely ask her to remove it. Don't feel guilty about asking - it's your right.

Normally an agent will remove her sign at the close of escrow. If you are the buyer, the house isn't yours until escrow closes. As others have said if you are the seller you can decide whether there is a sign or not. Buyers do watch signs even if there is a pending sale. There is some advantage to you to have it remain if escrow doesn't close.

Sometimes an agent may hire a sign company which is prompt to put it up (they will loose business if they are slow) but is slower to take it down (the buyer is the first to complain and they didn't hire the sign company).

no sign is required, in fact there is a spot in the contract to say you don't want one. Agents like to have their signs in prominent positions first to attract buyers and then to advertise their success. You might consider allowing it to stay where it is as a gesture for a job well done.

As others have stated, no, it is not a California requirement for signs. Discuss it with your agent, they can have it moved to a location you prefer.

Talk to your agent - there is no requirements for the sign placement. You don't have to even put it up if you don't want it.

As other mentioned, after sale the sign helps the agent get additional business. If you like the work your agent did for you keeping the sign in a visible spot seems like an easy way to show your gratitude.

Have you discussed this with you agent? If your agent has said that the sign must stay up the agent is mis-leading you either out of ignorance or out of desire to get the advertising that the sign in your yard with the agent's name on it put out.

Ask your agent to move or remove the sign if you wish to so so.

You can place it anywhere you want, it's your decision (not your agents). Most agents use their sign as advertising to be seen by other homeowners and you may want to extend the courtesy of allowing a visible location if they've done a good job for you, but it's up to you.

You don't have to have a sign at all. There is a place on the CAR listing agreement to check no sign.
You can ask your Realtor to take it down or move it.

You can choose to have NO SIGN at all, its your home sale, your call, you can have it moved to anywhere you want....nothing mandatory that you have to have a sign at all....the Sign is for your Realtor to perhaps get more sale business that he/she was able to sell yours that quickly...
