If we buy property in Yuba City, will the property taxes change to reflect the new purchase price?

The current property taxes are based on a higher home value than what the home is currently selling for, so the property taxes should be lower. How do we ensure we don't pay too much in property tax?

The property taxes are usually based upon the purchase price of the property, if you are going to occupy the property you are eligible for a homeowners exemption. I have been told that the assessors office does not necessarily have to reduce property tax if they feel that the current market value is higher than the purchase price. It is best that you contact the Sutter County tax assessors office @530-822-7117. If you need help finding a home feel free to contact me @ ReoRealtorConnie@yahoo.com or 530-682-0912

Hi there.

The property taxes will be adjusted after you purchase the home and is reassessed by the county assessor. You will probably have to pay prepaids and such based on the current tax assessment but should get the difference refunded to you, depending on how your home is financed.

Check out the website below. Call me if you need me to help you find that home! Thanks!!
