If the housing subdivison has big stores right across the street,is it good or bad?

Asked by Sweeperso, Cumming, GA Tue May 20, 2014

Hello,I am interested in buying a house in a subdivison off peachtree parkway in cumming. And big shopping stores like Walmart is just 0.3 miles away from the subdivison as well as other stores like Home Depot, target sears etc are also hardly .7 miles away ,so collectively the subdivision has shopping right around the corner.I personally would love to live at a place like this but I want to know if most of the people would like such a location or not, in other terms if buy a house and would resale it later then this kind of location would be have a negative impact or positive impact on the resale value? Definately considering that house does not back up on road or shopping .

If you can't see or hear the lights, building, trucks, etc., you'll be okay.

When you want to buy a home the best place to start is to hire an EXCLUSIVE Buyer Agent, not just a Buyer's Agent. EBAs only work with homebuyers and there is never a conflict of interest that will jeopardize your negotiating position. Contact http://www.naeba.org for a referral in your area.

I've written a best selling book called Buying a Home: Don't Let Them Make a Monkey Out of You. It'll teach you how to buy a home and get a mortgage without getting ripped off. Follow the link below.

Best of luck!

Having lived in this area as all these stores have been built, I have seen people upset when the stores were being built and then less than 6 months later the stores are an integral part of the community. I would look for two things…noise from the shopping center and distracting lights at night. Even if the house you are looking at doesn't directly back up to the stores, you can still be affected by the parking lots lights and the store signage. Like yourself, people do like to have shopping convenient to their homes, but they do not want the enjoyment of their home infringed upon.
