If a house is listed on Trulia under pre-foreclosure lis pendens, is it really actively for sale, and how do you actually see the home information?

It depends on how the Seller is handling their situation. Many folks will see they have a hardship and list the home as a short sale while others will abandon the property and let the bank proceed with filing a Lis Pendens or the beginning of the foreclosure process. Some counties and banks take longer than others to work through this process.
The short answer to your question is Trulia, RealtyTrac and others will list it as a foreclosure based on the filing of a Lis Pendens. However, unless the Seller, who still owns the property, engages in the process. It will sit. The bank can't place it on the market as they simply don't have the authority to sell the home without the present owner initiating the procees!
I have access to the best of them on the market actively today and would be happy to consult with you regarding your needs!

You would be better off looking at only active listings as Pre-foreclosure could be 2 or more years away from sale.
