Mr Boland,

New construction costs range in the low-mid $300/sf, depending on amenities and finish. You're better off buying the home of your dreams, in most scenarios nowadays. I have included a sample of various active listings/solds over the past several months from the VC-MLS. Good luck in your relocation from Massachusetts to the Ojai Valley.
