Greetings Mary: Actually, with the current strong Buyer's Market-- you can get quite a bit of house for 400,000 in Evergreen. There are bank owned properties-- as much as 55% below market value.

Hi Mary,
There are several options in Evergreen that fit your criteria. I sell homes in Evergreen frequently and view virtually every home on the market available here. I've made a custom map of every home for sale in Evergreen that fits your criteria-- although I expanded your criteria to $425k since I have been able to negotiate some pretty good deals here lately. Take a look at this Evergreen map with the listings highlighted: http://idx.diversesolutions.com/Link/21280
You can sort the results by a variety of options including: time on market, price, size, and percentage of price reductions since first listed!
In Evergreen I find the map expecially helpful when searching since some of the homes are way up in Brook Forest (very secluded) while others are right next to the lake (so. Pine) and the map helps you focus on what will work best for you.
I'm a big fan of Evergreen and Conifer-- so much so that I live here and coach football and lacrosse teams in Evergreen and my wife works at the local hospice. We have found that it is important to have specific local knowledge of the area since each of Evergreen's neighborhoods has it's own nuances that we can share with you.

Hello Mary,
There's currently 11 homes available in Evergreen, priced between $300,000 and $400,000 with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. They range from 1329 square feet to 2841 square feet and up to 2 acres on the lot size. Evergreen is so beautiful and the homes are all unique. I absolutely love showing homes in this area. Here's a link to one of the homes, it's easiest to have your Realtor send you the properties from one of their search engines. What I like to do is send emails to my clients with everything that fits their needs and then theylook through the listings, pictures and all and then email me back and let me know which homes they would like to go see.
