If I contact an agent online to ask about I a house I saw listed, am I committed to that agent forever?

I saw a house I was interested in, and wrote to the agent online, who then called me and answered my question. Now what do I do....if I see other houses, do I contact those agents, and what if I end up wanting to purchase the first house? Do I go back to the original agent? Please help me with some protocol...

It is better to get someone working for you as a buyer not a seller.
The trouble is the house hunting pain and most agents do not have the time to drive you
and show you every home you visit. Some are willing to work with you to get you started
and guide you or coach you. When you see something you like most do not
mind go back showing their professional knowledge to get you the best deal.

Not all realtors are there to make a quick buck. So you need to find that understanding realtor.

Flojamona,
Just because an agent provided you with information you have no commitment to him/her. While choosing an agent be aware that all agents use the same sources for their information and, originally, they received the same training. However, agents differ significantly in skill, experience and dedication. Unfortunately there is no good, reliable way to select one (regardless what various publications wants you to believe).
My advice is - select one that you feel most comfortable with, assuming that you are satisfied with information that he/she is providing.

Sounds like you dont have a "buyers" agent yet....I would recommend you pick one to work with as they can help advise you and navigate what homes are for sale and what are good values/prices to offer. You dont pay the agent the seller does.

Also, since you dont have an agent I assume you havent been prequalified for a mortgage? I also highly recommend doing that sooner than later so your ducks are in a row and no surprises once you find a home you like.

If you want a referral to an agent in Florence I can give you a few.

Just be honest and up front with people you deal with. This is a service business and the Realtors generally only get paid once a deal is done so be considerate and let people. If you commit to working with a person that you are comfortable with they will most likely serve you better.

The best thing to do is pick one agent to work with. Agents can show any house listed, it does not have to be their own listing. You also should have your own representation. Listing agents are working for the Seller. You want an agent working for you. Ask your friends and family if they have anyone that they would recommend. You can also go to your local office and find an agent that you feel comfortable with and have that agent show you houses.

When your looking for home , you need to find one agent that you trust. The agent you choose can show you the other homes your interested in . If you liked the first agent that answered your question , have that person be your agent and call them with your future questions and showing.

I'm sorry but I should also add that once you choose an agent you like and feel comfortable with, then you should stick with that agent, assuming they are doing the job you ask of them and doing it in a professional and pleasant manner.

You have no committment to that agent at all. The agent you should use is one that you choose, period.
