If I buy a duplex on a Land Contract, do I have to honor the existing leases of the tenants who currently live on the property?

Not sure of the Law in Mi, but in Florida and in most states the Leases are still valid after the sale and they must be honored unless the tenants violate the original lease. If you don't want the tenants or are planing to do a renovation this is something important to consider when buying a rental property. Encouraging the tenants to leave with a cash incentive and help moving is always an option, but never a guarantee.
