There are various factors you need to look around before buying home for eg school systems, average tax rate in that town, crime rate, house prices, commute etc.... Once you have these information, you can make a good decision of places you want to buy. You can check my website, http://www.devrealtor.com in buyer section. there are lots of information for both buyers & seller. If you need more info, give me a call, I will be more happy to serve you.

Hello Helen my name is Robert Porbansky and I am an agent withRE/MAX RISING and I also live in Colonia on Carson Dr wich is not far from Cypress or Mercury, it is a great area to live and bring up kids. The taxes average between $5200 & $6500. As for there being kids I go down there three to four times a day and I always see kids playing. If you have any more questions about Colonia send me an email or give me a call.
P.S I haved lived in Colonia For 36 years and I love it!
