Tina, Home Buyer in Memphis, TN

I would like to find a fixer upper in the Midtown area of Memphis.

Asked by Tina, Memphis, TN Sun Mar 16, 2008

I am hoping to find a home that is a fixer upper in the midtown area of Memphis. The problem that I seem to have when I find them there is 1 or 2 other homes that are nice on the streeth and I would be scard to let my daughters stay home along. Are there gems out there?

Following up on Jo's answer, I am a long-time Midtown resident. I noticed you signed in as 38107. North Midtown is a great market to find good values.

Hi Tina,

I would seek out and find a Midtown Agent to help you with your investment and your fears. The best way is to find an agent that LIVES in Midtown. My father use to have a saying "I want to go the doctor that the doctors go to". Professionals that invest their own money will have a better handle and first hand in-sight.

If you like a list of fabulous Midtown Realtors, please do not hesitate in letting me know.

I specialize in historic properties in Midtown. There are gems out there but there is usually a trade out on price vs. location. Urban pioneers have done well over the years, and investment in the "fringe" areas has paid off. If you want more safety and a better location, you will pay a premium, even for a fixer upper, however long term rewards will also be greater. Please contact me directly for more information.

Tina, If reference to your question, there are great fixer uppers in Midtown, but they go quick. Working with an agent who watches the midtown market is a must, and you will need to be ready as well on your end. By this I mean know what you are looking for, have your financing lined up, and feel confident to make an offer when the opportunity strikes. Your agent can help you with all of this, interview a few different agents who specialize in midtown to find the agent that's right for you. I live and specialize in midtown, feel free to contact me with any additional questions. Best Regards, Lindsay Proctor
