You have many options available to you within an hour commute of Bergen county and also in Bergen County. What you first need to define is what type of housing and community you would like to immerse yourself in - what kind of lifestyle are you seeking? Would you like the privacy and responsibiltiy of a single family home or would a development or complex with other people close by suit you better? Are schools important to you, either for you, your family, or resale? Are taxes an issue of consideration for you? Every home you look at will have trade-offs in benefits and issues for you to consider. An experienced Realtor who knows the area well can quickly help you determine viable options to best serve your needs and wishes. I live in and work this area full time and am happy to address any of your specific questions or concerns. I have a library of specific community and school information and links on this area on my website. Good luck to you with best wishes.
plenty of stuff in Sussex county or western part of Morris county. Assumimg you want a house with at least 2 beds and a single family not a condo thats your best bet.
Franklin, Hardystown or Hamburg on Rte 23 or the Lake Mohawk area on Rte 15 are probably within an hour of Bergen County depending on which part of Bergen you work in. You would even find something in the top end of West Milford thats in liveable condition but its a drag to get from there to any of the highways.
My web site has a link to the mls so you can check it out for yourself
Good luck
C,
Depending on what your criteria is as far as number of beds and baths and location, you can definitely buy something in Essex County from one bedroom condos to 3 bedroom single family detached houses in towns like Belleville, Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, Montclair, Nutley, Verona, West Orange, Newark, Irvington, The Oranges, etc. There is also housing available in Passaic County including towns such as Clifton, Little Falls, Paterson, Passaic and West Milford. Keep in mind that the houses under $200,000 may need some work and/or be short sales/foreclosure properties which if need repairs, will put you well over the $200,000 price range. Again, it all depends on what type of housing you are looking for and if Essex County or Passaic County is an option to you but feel free to contact me directy and I can send you some town and housing information to assist you in your search.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing from you.

200k is a tough number to find a house, but it all depends upon your needs.
How many bedrooms do you need? Are you willing to look at a Condo / Townhouse?
Email me and I can send you wha tis available in Middlesex County.
You are going to need to give an agent more information than that. Commute by car, train, bus? How many bedrooms do you need? What kind of resources do you have in the form of cash and credit rating? Is it a stand alone house you want or a condo and townhouse acceptable to you? Why not just call an agent?
Didn’t find what you were looking for? Ask a question!
