As you may have guessed, if you're wanting a "newer home" on a larger lot, it's going to be at a higher-than-median price. You didn't mention a Price Range that you're wanting to stay within, so it's hard to say just how many homes might meet your criteria. But 0.05 acres is not very big, so it's very easy to find larger lots than that. I'd be happy to give you a tour of the area whenever you're in our beautiful Sonoma County! This will be a great time to be a Buyer--in 2008!

Karin, You did not mention your price point? The lot size you had before was only 2200sqft! (acre is 43,560sqft) so by a bigger lot what do you mean. As a Realtor who lives here in Santa Rosa and has worked exclusively here for 28+ years there are MANY neighborhoods which would fit the bill. Holland Heights, Annadale Heights, Montecito Heights, Grace Tract, these are older neighborhoods with substantial homes on decent sized and varied lots.

There are a lot of potential areas in Santa Rosa that meet your needs. I personally like the Brush Creek area which is wooded with decent sized lots. There are parts of Bennett Valley and the north side of town where you can have more space as well. I like the RealBird mapping tool you can see at the link below since you can actually look at lot sizes and where they are in relationship to places in Santa Rosa as well as getting prices.
