Kevin, Moravec Well Systems in Penn Yan is one of our leading providers in the area. I would recommend you contact them to discuss the different types of systems and the details of each.

Last year my parents converted over their 1998 home. They love it and haven't looked back. I plan up change my next home over to geothermal

Kevin,
It seems like more and more homeowners are adding geothermal energy in our area. I also know of at least 1 winery that has taken advantage of the new technology. When considering something as important as your heat system, I always go to my "well" and get to the knowledge base. In Penn Yan, that "well", for me has been Moravec Geothermal. Any time I've called Rich he's been more that eager to help me understand the process, whether that's drilling for water or for a heat source. They're right here in town 315-536-3911. Tell them Stan sent you!

Kevin no offense taken. The second link is the calculator offered by the utility industry to help people figure savings on changes made to their home. the first link is the home page of the Geothermal heat pump consortium. Sorry if the organization that promotes geo can not help.

No offense but the calculator you offered is way off in terms of what it offers for energy usage by using geothermal. My question is more based in terms of how much info is available to a home buyer who is stuck with buying a house and needs an upgrade from propane or oil and the cost savings they could see by going with a geothermal system using a verticle or horizontal closed loop system.
