Janecny, Home Buyer in Manning, SC

I've noticed that there are many more homes for sale in Georgia than South Carolina. Is there a reason for that?

You really can't compare apples to oranges. Georgia s a much larger state. Atlanta is the home to more Fortune 500 Companies than even New York or Los Angeles. There are more transient residents in Atlanta than an other large city (meaning relatively few people who live in Atlanta are actually from Atlanta)..

One likely reason, Janecny, is that Georgia has almost 10 million residents, while South Carolina only has about 4.7 million. Please call, text or email if we can provide further assistance. Good Luck!

As states, GA and SC really do not compare other than they share a border. As of the 2010 US Census, GA is the 8th most populated state in the US at 9,919,945 residents. SC comes in at #24 with a population of 4,723,723.

There are 29 counties with 8,376 sq miles that comprise the Atlanta MSA. That population is 6,092.295 residents. Those numbers put Atlanta at over 20% larger than the entire state of SC even though SC is much large at 32,020 sq miles.

With that large of a population difference, it would only make sense that GA has more homes listed than SC.

I was going to say Georgia is a bigger state, but Michael said it better.
