Home Buying in Weatherford>Question Details

I understand with waterfront homes you purchase the home and lease the land, is this correct? How much do these leases run and for how long?

I have lived on Weatherford Lake now for over 20 years and love it! The land is owned by the City of Weatherford, so you enter into a lot license agreement with the City. These are due every October 1. Each single lot is approx $2000 - $2700 based on your improvements. You still are responsible for taxes on the improvements... therefore, you own the improvements on the land and the rights to use the land. The City of Weatherford changed their lease agreement a few years back. If you would like a copy of one, please feel free to contact me. I have one on hand.

Hi Cathy,

On lake homes, you purchase the home and the land it sits on.

Call me and I can further discuss this with you. I have sold lake homes in Parker county.

Not here, you buy oceanfront you also get the land. The beach is yours but you can fence it or restrict people from walking on it. You can restrict them getting to it by crossing your property to get there, but once there (like from a public assess) they can walk it. Maybe it's different in Texas.
