Hello Steven,
I have a green home in a beautiful area I would like to show you.
Please give me a call.

Hi Steven,
Why Jacksonville? You want a winter home that has real winter or a winter home to escape the cold. Drive a few more miles down the road and check out Harmony in Osceola County. It's a rare occasion when we have a frost. We've got miles of wooded nature trails right outside your front door. No driving required.
Check us out,

I agree with the previous agent. The fleming Island/Eagle Harbor area is really nice and has plenty of trails. Another option may be Oakleaf Plantation there are plenty of trails and some great bargains in there. If you have any questions give me a call.
Steven,
All of the neighborhoods that have been previously mentioned are wonderful, but there are also several well established neighborhoods with wonderful shade trees over the sidewalks and gorgeous homes and architecture to enjoy along the way such as San Marco, Miramar, San Jose and the Riverside/Avondale neighborhoods. These areas have much to offer in the way of local shopping and dining, convenience to Downtown and the Beaches and wonderful school choices if that is important to you. They are also in close to the Riverwalk downtown that winds it way along the beautiful St. Johns River! Please call if you would like to discuss any of these areas furhter. I would love to assist you in the purchase of your new home.
Kindly,
Holly Hayes

Steven, while there are many beautiful areas in Jacksonville, you can find exactly what you are looking for if you look at Eagle Harbor on Fleming Island. Eagle Harbor is one of the best neighborhoods in Jacksonville, with miles of walking trails through the neighborhood. There is an 8 foot sidewalk running all the way down Eagle Harbor Parkway and sidewalks running down all streets and even between the homes for shortcuts to neighborhoods/pools and day docks. The Black Creek Nature Trail is a short drive, just south of Fleming Island Plantation. Eagle Harbor also has the Lickskillet Nature Preserve and you can walk there. There are 5 day boat docks in Eagle Harbor, which makes for a lovely end to a morning or evening walk. There are long nature trail walks to the day docks on Black Creek and Swimming Pen Creek in Eagle Harbor's Black Creek neighborhoods. There is a sidewalk that runs most of the length of Fleming Island, outside the communities of Pace Island, Eagle Harbor, and Fleming Island Plantation. In other words, Fleming Island is the perfect place for someone who loves to walk. You could actually walk to the Nature Trail from any of these communities if you don't want to drive. Shopping and restaurants are plentiful, so you really don't have to leave unless you want to! If you would like to search for homes on Fleming Island, you can set up your own search account at http://www.orangeparkhomes.listingbook.com
Hi Steven,
What a wonderful area to be considering having a winter home in. Jacksonville boasts of being the city where Florida begins. Lynn gave some fine examples of some communities that can offer the type of recreation that you indicated. Along with house or condo you might want to consider a townhome. As an Accredited Buyer Representative I have assisted many individuals and families find homes in the area successfully closing on them. Hi Steven,
Thanks for asking your question on Trulia Voices. In addition to the good suggestions given below, you may also want to consider one of Duval County or Clay County's master-planned communities like; Eagle Harbor, Oakleaf Plantation, Bartram Springs, or Julington Creek Plantation. These neighborhoods are built around just the things you want, with nature trails, bike & walking paths, lots of trees, etc.
Please call with any questions & good luck in your search!

There are a number of places like that here. The beaches area is great for walking around, not to mention Hannah Park. It has beaches, lakes, nature trails and great trails for mountain biking.

Actually, it's an interesting question. And it depends on what you really like to do--we have a lot of shade trees, it gets hot here! However, the beaches offers sidewalk communities where you can walk to the band shell for events, beach, and such. Avondale and Riverside offers and is considered a 'walking' community here in Jacksonville. They are near the river and are naturally cooler. They also offer many opportunities for social interaction, great restaurants, etc.
Happy to be of assistance!
In Bartram Park there is a nature trail. Close by there are condos, townhomes, and single family homes in your price range. It is also near 95 and the new Baptist South hospital. You are 15 from Town Center Shopping and restaurants, and 15 min from St Augustine. I live in this area so I know it very well. I'll try to find others.
