and have rented now for two years in the park ave area so i'm familar with the city and some of the suburbs. I have heard a lot of negative about East Rochester but it is mainly people saying oh i would never live in East Rochester. Does anyone have any reasons why? I know the school district isnt the greatest in the area but i'd love any other reasons why or why not someone would consider buying in East Rochester. Thanks in advance
Why wouldn't you live in East Rochester? It's a village within the Town of Pittsford, has a downtown area with restaurants, has a cute park, and has a great homey feel. Some of the houses around the village are smaller, but that makes them more affordable. The village, town and school taxes are bundled together, but that happens in the village of Pittsford as well. As far as the school district, I haven't heard it is bad, I know it is smaller than the surrounding school districts and perhaps doesn't offer as many programs. I am happy to send along a school district report card if you care to investigate this further. If you would like to take a look at some of the houses in East Rochester you can contact me at 585 978 0087 or roxannekuliner@kw.com.

You can definitely get more house for your buck in East Rochester than you can in other eastside suburbs. As George mentioned, the taxes can be relatively high, but otherwise it is a close knit community that is too often overlooked or scoffed at by locals because it isn't as "high end" as nearby Fairport or Pittsford. Personally, it's an area that I encourage my buyers to consider for a great deal in the suburbs.
East Rochester is a pleasant eastside Village/Town with generally lower priced homes. The schools are well thought of by many and centrally located. Some people dislike the lack of school bus service and the taxes are relatively high due to the village amenities. Many of the condos represent good value.
