Homes in Sewanne do tend to be a little higher due to the University, and if the property is on the domain. Also the views are breath-taking if you have a bluff lot. I would love to help you with your search. I think you wil find better prices out away from the college. Please feel free to give me a call anytime. 931-224-2838

Sewanne is kind of a private secluded area and the prices do tend to be a little higher than the surrounding area. However there are lots of nice properties within a 15-20 minute drive. A lovely country drive might I add. If you're interested please give me a call 931.308.8151

Find something off the domain and it won't be so pricey unless your looking at bluff property. Tis the same in Monteagle, stay away from the bluff area and gated communities, lakes etc..prices are lower. If you want to live NEAR Sewanee or Monteagle and not pay the higher prices, you might want to look at Tracy City, Coalmont, Altamont or Gruetli Laager. Monteagle Property is gaining with Sewanee, we have seen several new developments open in the past few months. It all boils down to where in Sewanee or Monteagle you want to buy. Land is scarce in Sewanee, you won't get as much land when buying in Sewanee as you would elsewhere. Buying on "The Domain" there will be leasehold fees, usually 6%. Find a Realtor who knows the area well and you can probably find what your looking for.

Yes. Prices are higher in Sewanee. Monteagle is more affordable when buying a home. I have 2 houses for sale in Monteagle that are not on the market. You can contact me at jaysontlong@yahoo.com

I failed to mention, the University of the South is in Sewanee and was named Top College in 2008 by U.S. News...

I'm in the Nashville area and did some searching of my own. Here are some statistics FYI: 52% of the people in Sewanee have a bachelor's degree or better, 2.6% unemployment rate, medium household income is $45,000, management/professional is 47.6%. WOW!
