look at the inside, there was other people checking out the house also. What should we start for the first offer. We are thinking about offering $330,000. Is that a good first offer or should we go a little higher? We really like the house.

I agree with Chris -- get your self a buyer's agent. The agent will pull comps and assist you in negotiating as offer on the property.
I do not agree that you should ask the listing agent if there are other offers. Remember, they represent the seller and are trying to get the highest price for their client.

First of all, get a realtor if you dont have one already, remember that the listing property pays the fee to your agent so there is nothing out of pcket generally to you....... The agent working on your behalf would look at comps in the area and what things change the price offer!!!!!! Remember not to go wild and keep a pre approval current from your leding sinstitution!

I would first check with the listing agent to see if there are any other offers on the property first before putting in an offer. If there is another offer, then that would make a difference depending on how much you want the home, as well as what the comparable properties are around it to make sure the asking price is fairly correct around the market value of the area. If you do have a buyer's agent, then talk with that agent about the comparable homes and what has sold and is under agreement in that area. Then you can base your offer on the price of those homes, as well as the condition of the home you saw and if any work needs to be done.
If the home just dropped $20K, then I seem to think the sellers are motivated to sell, since many just come down $5000 or $10,000 the most. Plus, if they dropped it that much, the price might have been too high to begin with as well. So a few things to think about before putting in a well educated offer on the property.
If you're not using a buyer's agent, then I too would recommend finding a good agent to help you with making an offer, giving you advice on home inspection issues, negotiating with the agent/seller and all parties involved with the transaction. It doesn't cost you anything extra to have an agent working for you since the commission comes off the purchase price. My guess is that you're talking about the property on Baker Pond Rd. I've not been inside it and without having seen the property, it's hard to say whether that is a good first offer or not ... if you have a buyer's agent, he/she can do a market analysis on what is happening in that neighborhood, but the bottom line is ... how much is this house worth to you? The other properties are only to help you put what you want in perspective, but only you know what this house would be worth to you since you're the one who is going to live in it. Makes sense, right?
Do your homework, or at least have your buyer's agent do the homework for you ... then decide on your offer price.

Assuming you have a great buyers agent? If not you should seriously consider one ( if you work directly with the agent representing the seller/property they cant legally protect your interest in the purchase or give you pricing advice).
