I'm buying a home in Fontanan in the Southridge area, but I'm worried about crime rate and safety.

I've been looking at homes in the Southridge area the homes are very affordable and newly built. But I'm worried about safety and crime rate in the city of Fontana. I will be moving from Arcadia CA which is a very safe area. I also can't find anything in our price rage in any of the safer cities.

We bought a brand new home in the Southridge area of Fontana at the end of 2006. Until very recently we have had no worries with any type of crime in our new neighborhood, it for the most part has been very quiet and comfortable but we did expeirence some trouble, but it was short lived, anyone committing crimes will always try to seek out the newer communities thinking that have more to gain, My family relocated from Pasadena where my son and daughter grew up and not in the richest part of Pasadena, that is where my son got into trouble and started using drugs, our move to Fontana was the best thing that happened to all of us, There is trouble in every neighborhood as it seems.

I helped my brother and his wife with their house in South Ridge and their neighborhood is decent. I advice you to have your Realtor® talk to the neighbors about their community.
Good luck.

I have lived in southridge fontana for 7 1/2 years and I would not consider it a bad place to live crime and violence you are going to find in any city. Things do happen everywhere and it's hard to shelter children from everything. But personally speaking we have never had any type of problem or encounter any kind of violence here I consider it safe and would not be leaving my home if it hadn't been forclosed on.

Let me be perfectly clear. I would never live in Gang Laden Northern Mexico, I mean Fontana. More specifically the Southridge Developement. Twenty years ago Fontana was an orderly, clean community. Today, Fontana-Welcome to eastern Los Angeles or western San Bernardino.

Stay in Arcadia, I bought a house in Southridge in 1997. Biggest Mistake ever, My toddler then, was coming home from a Mcdonalds and teens pulled out a gun unto the intersection pointed it at my son. We moved immediately back to Pasadena and then paid rent it was all worth it for safety of my family and a better community. Sometimes the price on the house is not worth your children's safety of life. Now my kids are teens but have a way better quality of life ie., going to the movies, safe, going to Mcdonalds, safe, hanging out at Starbucks "Very Safe." I know that crime is in every city, and random acts of Violence are everywhere. But our schools are safe and I dont have to worry about gun control when they both go out to grab a starbucks or a cheesburger.
