I relocated from New Jersey and looking to find a great area near Palo Alto. I can't afford P.A. but was looking for other cities that would be good to live in for the next 2-4 years as a starter. Any suggestions?

Jmark714,
Well you have gotten some good areas to look from the other agents. As we don't know your price range, but you can't afford P.A. I would suggest less expensive areas like North San Jose, Milpitas, Fremont, as well as the other mentioned areas Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Campbell. If you need help with your search just log onto my web site and go from there or email me with your needs and wants and I will set up the search for you.
I hope this helps, as always feel free to contact me with any questions.

Jmark714,

The great thing about the Bay Area is all the different cities and micro climates. My suggestion is to visit various cities like Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara, and Campbell, to see which cities “feel” comfortable to you. Each city has its own personally. Other consideration is your commute, budget, crime rate, parks, taxes and school ranking. Some sources of data about cities are:
http://www.city-data.com,

Also each city their own website
http://www.sunnyvale.ca.gov/ for example

In addition you might want to ask your co-workers what city they live and why? A Realtor can also help you with more details about an areas and neighborhoods.

Welcome to the Bay Area!

Hi Jmark714,

You have been provided with some great suggestions. Real estate prices can vary greatly even in the same city because of the school districts and the conveniences the location offers. Understanding your commute tolerance, type of home you would like to purchase, what activities you enjoy in your spare time and budget would help us direct you to communities that will better fit your needs.

If you would prefer to do a bit more research on your own, before engaging a Realtor, I would also throw into the mix of cities and towns mentioned, Campbell and Los Gatos.

I relocated to the Bay Area from MA. Moving cross country is exciting and challenging. The Bay Area is a beautiful place to live and I am certain you will enjoy all that it has to offer including the weather. Let me know if I can provide you with any additional information.

Sincerely,

Jamrk714,

It is best to get a Realtor that you can trust and that is knowledgeable in the area that you are seeking, I would possibly think about Santa Clara, San Jose, Gilroy depending on the type of property you are looking for and the amount you are willing to spend.

Jmark714:

As you are well aware, housing on the Peninsula is expensive.
Housing tends to be less expensive south of San Jose or in the East Bay.
Of course, in these areas; you will be facing a longer commute.
Grace offers several good possibilities.
Please be aware that neighborhoods within each city vary in desriability.
I have lived in San Carlos since 1986 and have found it a wonderful community in which to live.
Depending on what your financial parameters are, I could offer you some suggestions.

Hello Jmark and thanks for your question.

To better assist you, a Realtor will need to know your housing budget--what are you qualified to purchase--and what you would like to see in a home, condo or planned development. There are many cities that are within "easy commute" from Palo Alto including sections of West San Jose, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara (to the south) and Redwood City, San Carlos and sections of Mountain View to the north and east that might suit your needs.

However, if you can provide to your trusted Realtors more information, they can greatly narrow your search parameters and quickly find for you a great home. Also, this is a wonderful time of year to look since there are less buyers in the market right now. Give us a call if you have questions.
