Hello Aimee. Do you already know what H.S. you are zoned for? Hempstead, Malverne, Franklin Square, etc.? I know that in that area, you may live in one town and be assigned to another school district. The best advice I could give you is to ask around. Talk to parents, faculty, even students--if you can. Hey, they would probably know better than the faculty.

Below is the link to the Hempstead and West Hempstead School District's site. Consider giving them a call. You could ask about violence, education, ask for a tour, etc.

I hope this answered your question! If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me by the ways below.

Wishing you the best of luck,

The Franklin Square SD #17 is the highest ranking of those 3 districts.

For school information see links below. Also consider a visit to the school, ask for a tour of the facility, speak to the superintendent, teachers, principal, etc., and ask all your questions, then determine if your comfort level can be reached.

Hi Aimee -

The best source I have found to compare school districts and the schools within them is http://www.GreatSchools.net. On this site you will find the courses offered, testing results, per capita expeditures for students, etc.

Another site to check is the Newsday education for the School Report Cards: http://schools.newsday.com/long-island/

Please let me know if these sites are helpful to you and if they help to put your mind at ease! Of course, if you are thinking about moving, please let me assist you in the sale and purchase of your new home.

Regards,
Arlynn
