As of last Thursday CA is not offering the tax credit that the state was giving for NEW houses.
hi Emily,
Not only the $8000 first time home buyer tax is available, I understand in congress they are talking about raising it to $15000 next year and making it available to everyone(not just first time buyers) to stimulate the economy.
That information is not accurate. The $8000 Tax Credit is available to First TIme Buyers that close on their homes before December 1, 2009. The fund that is running low is the extra funds for New Construction....this is something California is offering but is in addition to the Federal Credit.
If you are counting on the California funds as well....get on it! I know it is hard to keep making offers but just working at it. Feel free to email me if you have any additional questions: laura@lauraashleyhomes.com.

No,that is totally wrong. As long as you close by Nov. 30 it is still available.
